The Disciplines Behind Governor
The work at Governor Technologies is organized around four disciplines. Each is grounded in products that exist and run as internal pilots today, and each applies the same rule: specific laws, explicit authority, recorded evidence and independent review.
Roles and practices, not headcount
How the work is divided and what each discipline is responsible for.
AI governance & safety engineering
Builds the management and safety layer itself: the component that decides, outside the model, whether a proposed action may run, and the memory and workspace that keep governed systems independent of any one AI.
- Function-specific law packs for each system, program and function
- The LawGuard decision cycle: law check, authority, evidence
- Reproducible releases and lab qualification on disposable machines and fleet replicas
- Model-independent project memory with provenance; governed multi-agent runtime
Grounded in LawGuard, Governor Memory and Governor Code
Infrastructure monitoring & operations
Builds and runs the tools operators use on real fleets: the console that shows the state of every client's servers, the service that gathers evidence and analyses incidents, and the board that controls virtual machines and emulators.
- Client workspaces, status walls, approvals, backups and Memory archive
- Evidence gathering, advisory incident analysis and alerting on Linux fleets
- Advisory, managed and autonomous response tiers with exact scope and expiry
- Hyper-V, WSL, remote VirtualBox and Android emulator lifecycle control
Grounded in Server Management, Server Sentinel and VM Control
Security & resilience research
Works on what happens when systems are attacked: ransomware defence built to detect, contain and recover; protection for software that runs on devices the company does not control; and research into AI-assisted, human-supervised security assessment.
- Linux and Windows agents, a control plane and an investigation console, developed against a lab gate suite
- Software protection against reverse engineering, including AI-assisted analysis, with a formal threat model
- Security-assessment research where every finding is independently verified; authorized and in-scope only
Grounded in RansomShield, Governor Lock and Security research
Independent review & verification
Checks the other three. Nothing advances on the word of the people who built it: results are reviewed independently, findings are closed one at a time, and a pilot's cutover is gated by that review and by owner approval.
- Independent review of lab qualification and shadow-comparison results
- Independent evaluation as a pillar of the Governor Lock program
- Independent verification of every security-research finding
- Gates at every stage of the pilot lifecycle
Grounded in the pilot lifecycle, the Governor Lock discipline and Security research
How the disciplines work together
The same discipline the products enforce is the discipline the work follows.
Governance engineering sets the laws
Function-specific laws are written for the systems that operations runs and the automation that acts on them.
Operations supplies the fleet and the safety layer
The console and monitor remain the operator's additional safety layer around governed automation.
Security research hardens what ships
Ransomware defence, software protection and assessment research feed back into how products are built and protected.
Review gates every advance
Independent review decides when a component is lab-qualified, when a shadow comparison is accepted and when a cutover may proceed.
One reusable foundation
Every discipline builds standalone, reusable programs; client-specific laws, configuration and state stay separate.
Evidence throughout
Lab results are labelled as lab results, statuses are true, and every decision a governed system takes is recorded.
