Governor VM Control

A Windows desktop control board for the virtual machines, subsystems and emulators an operator works with every day, with a guided, AI-assisted flow for adding a new VM.

Overview

One board, no context switching

An operator's day runs across several kinds of target: virtual machines on a Hyper-V host, Linux distributions under WSL, VirtualBox machines on another Windows host somewhere on the network, and Android emulators for mobile testing. Each normally has its own tool. Governor VM Control puts them on one Windows desktop board with the same controls, so the operator stops switching between consoles.

The board is in internal pilot use. Its lifecycle controls have been exercised in real Hyper-V and VirtualBox tests, it has run a 2-hour soak test, and it installs cleanly on a fresh Windows 11 machine; all three are lab results.

Windows desktop board

Installed on the operator's workstation; local and remote targets on the same screen.

Four kinds of target

Hyper-V virtual machines, WSL, VirtualBox on remote Windows hosts over SSH, Android emulators.

AI-assisted guided flow

Adding a new VM is a guided, step-by-step flow assisted by AI.

What it controls

VMs, subsystems and emulators

The targets an operator handles every day sit on the same board with the same controls.

Hyper-V

Inventory of the host's virtual machines with start, stop, restart, pause, save and console access from one board.

WSL

The Windows Subsystem for Linux distributions on the machine, managed alongside the virtual machines.

Same boardNo context switch

VirtualBox on remote hosts

VirtualBox virtual machines on remote Windows hosts, controlled over SSH.

Over SSHRemote Windows hosts

Android emulators

Android emulators sit next to the VMs, so a mobile test target is handled with the same controls.

Guided "add a VM"

A new virtual machine, step by step

An AI-assisted guided flow walks the operator through adding a virtual machine, step by step.

Guided

The flow takes the operator through adding a virtual machine one step at a time.

AI-assisted

The assistant helps the operator through the steps; the operator stays in control of the result.
